In Solidarity is a collaborative project by Anthony Peyton Young and Julia Kwon. The two artists—who are deeply passionate about artmaking, community, and social justice—create various collaborative and experimental works to discuss their shared experience of being othered and struggles to be seen as fully human in the United States. Young and Kwon rework portraiture, patchwork textile, and abstraction as well as Black and Asian cultural signifiers to celebrate their personal backgrounds and to satirize and subvert people's preconceptions. Through the project, they aim to stand in solidarity not only with each other, but also with Black, Asian, and all other marginalized communities.
